Date Nights on a Budget
When it comes to dating my wife well, but doing so on a budget, one thing often comes to mind: intentional planning.
Many people think that budgeting means cutting out all “extra” expenses. In some cases, when income is lower than expenses, that might be necessary for a season. But for most, it’s not about eliminating everything enjoyable but prioritizing what truly matters.
I want to encourage those who aren’t in a financial crunch to invest in what’s important. In this case, that’s date nights with my spouse. With two kids at home, it can already be hard enough to find time to go out. We don’t want our budget to be another barrier, so we plan and allocate for it intentionally.
What is planned for is what happens.
When you set aside money for something, you’re more likely to follow through and make it happen. Budgeting gives permission to enjoy! The budget is not guilt for spending. You might have expected a list of cheap date ideas, but instead, here’s some encouragement: date often and date well. Plan for it in your budget, and when the time comes, use what you’ve set aside. Mix in some budget-friendly dates to let funds build up for the occasional splurge!
